Army Sports Club bounced back to settle in to a 16-16 draw against CR&FC in the curtain raiser match of the Inter-Club Rugby Championship 2022, played at Havelock Park on Friday (21).
CR led 16-6 at halftime with two unconverted tries recorded by Kanchana Ramanayake and Supun Warnakulasuriya, after Kavindu de Costa's two early penalties.
The Soldiers added six points from a penalty off the boots of Gayan Salinda and a drop goal by Tharindu Madushan, just before the short whistle.
Army played gallantly in the return half, thwarting CR from adding further points to their total, and by scoring the needed points to level the scores through two unconverted tries, scored by Thirusha Adikaram and Chalika Sandaruwan.
