After a grueling encounter Bangladesh recorded a close 1-0 victory against Sri Lanka in the opening game of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup, played in Male, Maldives on Friday (1).
The game was more intense than anticipated and turned out to be more of a physical clash, as the captains of both sides had to intervene to settle heated incidents occurred constantly.
Sri Lanka had to play with 10 players after Dickson Pulsas was sent off from the field with two yellow cards.
Bangladesh scored the solitary goal through a penalty in the 51st minute.
The game was attended by a large count of spectators despite appalling weather conditions.
Sri Lanka will take on Maldives in their second SAFF Cup game on Sunday (3).
