India suffers shocking home defeat by England’s 28-run victory.

England took a shock 1-0 lead in the five-match series despite conceding a 190-run lead in the first inning of the match. Ollie Pope and Tom Heartly started England's victory in Hyderabad with sensational second-inning performances. India have now lost two of their last three home Test matches.

Ben Stokes-England shut critics in style by taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series with a sensational victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday (January 28), despite conceding a 190-run defeat in what is their first defeat at home after taking a 100-run plus lead at home.

Chasing a fourth-inning total of 231, debutant Tom Haertley ran riot over the Indian batting unit by taking a six-wicket haul, which included the big wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, KS Bharat, and Ravichandran Ashwin as India were bowled out for just runs. Skipper Rohit was the top scorer with a knock of 89, while Bharat and Ashwin gave hope with a fifty-run partnership for the eighth wicket.

It was Ollie Pope who played one of the best knocks in history by a visiting batter on Indian soil to help England put up a massive third-inning total of 420 on the board. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers with a four-wicket haul.

India's First Innings Domination

Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bat, and they had an opening day to forget as they were bowled out for a total of 246, with Ben Stokes being the sole shining light with a knock of 70 on the board. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja both took two wickets each for India.

India made a stunning start, with Yashasvi Jaiswal punishing the English bowling unit with a quick-fire knock of 80. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja made knockouts of 86 and 87 as the home side took a massive 190-run lead with a first-inning score of 436.

This is India's second loss at home in a Test match in the last year. In fact, India have now lost two of their last three home Test matches. It is worth noting that from the start of 2013 to the end of 2022,India has lost just two home Test matches.
