The Sri Lanka Wheelchair Tennis team was placed sixth in world rankings after its overall performance at the Wheelchair Tennis World Team Cup concluded in Italy.
The competition included 16 national teams who competed under four groups of four teams each.
After recording two wins in three group stage matches, Sri Lanka qualified to compete in the 5-8 place playoffs.
The Sri Lankans beat Poland 2-0 but lost to Japan 0-2 in the 5-6 place playoffs, finishing overall with the world rank of sixth.
In the group rounds Sri Lanka lost to France 0-3 but bounced back to beat Belgium 2-1 and Brazil 3-0.
This is highest achievement so far recorded at global wheelchair tennis rankings.
