Athletics: Laser run hits the city

The first Laser-Run City Tour was held on June 25, at Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte. 

The event took place in a city location popular for leisure runners, cyclists and others who take part in physical activities, and the entry list comprised more than 200. 

Participants took part in all age categories with more than 45 racing at Elite level across three heats and a final. 

The final race of elite category results have been taken to world ranking list by UIPM. 

The event was organised by the Modern Pentathlon Federation of Sri Lanka in conjunction with the UIPM expert Pedro Petruschinski from Laser-Run Panel. 

More than 40 volunteers also took part, helping to ensure the success of the first Laser-Run City Tour.  

Laser-Run City Tour has been introduced in 2017 as a new concept designed to showcase Laser-Run to a global audience and give more and more athletes worldwide an introduction to UIPM Sports, starting them on a road that can end at the Olympic Games. 

This event was sponsored by D. Samson and Sons Ltd, and Homelands Skyline Pvt Ltd and was organised and conducted by Modern Pentathlon Federation of Sri Lanka.
