Half tons by Revan Kelly and Nipun Sumanasinghe laid the foundation while the right arm pace and spin duo Jehan Daniel and Ashen Daniel shared eight wickets for St. Joseph’s to record a convincing 87 runs win over traditional rivals St. Peter’s in their 44th Battle of the Saints limited over encounter played at the SSC ground.
The morning session of proceedings saw St Joseph’s taking first lease of the wicket losing their first wicket on 24 which followed by a valuable 90 runs stand for the second wicket between Revan who made a 59 and Nipun 53 helping them to post a formidable score of 259.
St Peter’s in their run chase was making steady progress but lost wickets at regular intervals as Jehan who ended with impressive figures of 4 for 21 and Ashen 4 for 32 combined to bowl them out for a score of 172 for St. Joseph’s to record their 22nd win of the series as against to 20 by St. Peter’s.
