"Chess –An Art of Life” -- Workshop was brought to life at the Russian Centre in Colombo, hosting over 140 students of numerous schools across the nation.
The session was conducted by Udara Hewagama and Ushan Samarakone, chess instructors of the Anatoly Karpov Chess Club of the Russian Centre in Colombo.
Additionally, Suneetha Wijesuriya who is also the president and chief instructor of the Anatoly Karpov Chess Club and 10-times Women’s National Chess Champion, First and only Chess Olympiad Gold Medalist in Sri Lanka, First Woman Fide Master and the First Woman Fide Instructor in the country was felicitated by Madam Anastasia Khokhlova, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sri Lanka/Director of the Russian Centre in Colombo and Buddhapriya Ramanayaka, CEO of the Russian Centre in Colombo, for the service rendered in promoting Chess among the locals.
