Cricket: Cinnamon Red bags TTSC Sixes title

Cinnamon Red Colombo bagged their very first TTSC title when they lifted the Grand Trophy at the rain hampered, 33rd Travel Trade Sports Club Hardball Cricket Sixes 2015 held at the BRC ground last weekend. 

The event sponsored by Cinnamon Grand Colombo for the fourth successive year, saw nine teams in three groups participating in two stages, with a total of 12 matches.

At the completion of the league, the three group leaders, namely, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, SriLankan Airlines, Cinnamon Red Colombo, along with the best second out of the three groups, debutants, Waters Edge advanced to the semi finals.

But by that time darkness had fallen and the umpires decided to enforce the ‘Bowl Out’ contest to determine the ultimate winner and runners-up.

In the first semi-final bowl out, Cinnamon Red Colombo beat Waters Edge and in the second semi final, Sri Lankan Airlines beat the Sponsor, Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

In the final Cinnamon Red Colombo via two hits by Pasan Wijewardena and Riyaz Allang beat SriLankan Airlines, one hit.
