The second "Battle of Thomians" the hockey big match between S. Thomas' College Mt. Lavinia and St. Thomas' College Matale for the Eric Hulangamuwa Challenge Shield will be played at the Astro Turf, Reid avenue on September 24 at 4.00pm.
The two schools -- one by the sea and the other in the hill country , boasts of producing top hockey players of national and international fame and have been playing competitive hockey for decades.
This annual encounter jointly organised by Matale Old Thomians Hockey Association and Mt. Lavinia Old Thomians Hockey Union will be hosted by one of the two schools and this year it will be S. Thomas' Mt. Lavinia who will be hosting the event.
Nation Trust Bank (NTB) is the main sponsor of this big match.
Prior to the main event, an Under-15 fixture between the two schools will be played at the same venue at 3.00pm.
St. Thomas' Matale won the inaugural Battle of Thomians by 2-0 at Matale last year.
