Traditional rivals Royal College and S. Thomas’ College will clash in their annual hockey encounter played for the Orville Abeynaike Trophy at the Astro Turf in Torrington today (30). The match, played for the 16th occasion, is scheduled to begin at 4.15pm. Out of the 15 encounters played so far, S. Thomas’ has won the trophy seven times while Royal’s tally of wins reads as five. Royal come out as favourites being the defending title holder after beating the Thomians 3-0 last year. Royal will be led by Malith Rasanga while S. Thomas’ will be captained by Chula Wanigasooriya. Prior to the main game an encounter for the Old Boys will be played at 3.15pm for the Nihal Nilaweera Trophy.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
