MCA Cricket: MAS Unichela to meet Dimo in T20 title clash

The curtain comes down of the Mercantile Premier Division cricket today at the MCA Grounds when MAS Unichela and Dimo battle for the MCA Premier League T20 supremacy on Sunday (19). 

In the two semi-final matches played at the P. Sara Oval on Friday MAS Unichela made their way to the finals with a 58 run win over Teejay Lanka and Dimo with an easy 6-wicket victory over LB Finance booked their berth for the final battle. 

A swashbuckling century by Ramith Rambukwella paved the way for MAS Unichela to post a huge 208 for three wickets over Teejay Lanka in the first semi-final. 

Chasing the victory target Teejay Lanka never found things easy against a four pronged attack of F. Mahroof, A. Fernando, T.M. Dilshan and Ishara Amarasinghe sharing all ten wickets to fall in a total of 156. 

Charith Asalanka, S. Karunanayake and M. Bhanuka were the only three batsmen batted with confidence to score 40, 26 and 23 respectively. 

In the second semi-final match played in the afternoon saw a lusty innings of 71 coming off in 35 deliveries from left handed opener Thikshila De Silva spearheaded Dimo to an easy six wickets win over LB Finance. 

Batting first LB Finance posted a respectable 170 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. 

L. Rodrigo top scored with 44 while L. Udara, A.K. Perera, and S. Arachchige were the other main contributors. 

In their run chase DIMO were well ahead of the required rate as their first 50 runs coming off in 5.1 overs and the 100 in 10.3 overs. 

The bright start given by De Silva was carried forward by the 5th wicket pair Sammu Ashan and Ramesh Mendis to put the finishing touches with an unfinished combination.
