The second Rugby Rumble, a thrilling and fun seven-a-side Tag Rugby Tournament that brings former college rugby stars to the pitch, scheduled to be on July 25 and 26 has been postponed for September 5 and 6 according to its organsers. An official media release issued by Dilroy Fernando, the tournament director of Rugby Rumble stated that the event had to be postponed after a directive issued by the government of Sri Lanka. “Kindly note that the above event due on July 25 and 26 had to be postponed with the Government of Sri Lanka announcing the Month of July as an anti-drug month along with the national programme for drug eradication - ‘Nation free of drugs’ being carried out island wide. The Excise Department which gave us permission for the event in February, has advised us not to proceed with the event during July due to above. We did try our best to convince the authorities, but was not successful,” the media statement said. “Therein, kindly note that we have decided to postpone the event to September 5 and 6.” The event was scheduled to be held at the CR&FC ground at Longdon Place in Colombo and so far the event organisers have not stated any change of the venue.
