Kandy Sports Club has named scrumhalf Roshan Weeraratne as its captain of the First XV team for the upcoming Dialog Division 'A' Premier Rugby Season for 2016/2017.
The decision to appoint Weeraratne, the youngest of two brothers in the Kandy SC outfit, was taken it the club's annual general meeting which was held on Sunday at Nittawela.
Roshan is the younger brother of Gayan, who also turn out for Kandy SC and Sri Lanka as centre.
Roshan, 27, is a regular member of the Sri Lanka 15s and 7s sides and he is currently on tour in Monaco for the Rio Olympic Rugby 7s Qualifiers.
Last season he stood in for Fazil Marija, who had to skip some of the Dialog Division 'A' matches due to a slipped disk injury.
In addition former flanker, Sean Wijesinghe, will continue as Head Coach of Kandy SC in the coming season too.
