The 43rd Annual Sri Lanka Schools All Island Age Group Aquatic Championships 2016 will be held at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex in Colombo from June 23 to 26.
According to the organisers, Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association (SLSASA), a total of 2,717 swimmers representing 179 schools will take part in the four-day event.
Among them are 1,715 male and 1,002 female swimmers, who will vie for 16 champion trophies, in the age categories of Under-9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19.
The championship includes 164 events -- 140 individual and 24 relays -- in total.
The opening ceremony will be held on Thursday (23) at 8.00am under the patronage of Education Ministry Additional Secretary, Asoka Senani Hewage as the Chief Guest.
Minister of Education, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam will grace the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest Sunday (26).
