T20 WC: New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 74 runs in warm-up game

New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 74 runs in the warm-up game of the ICC T20 World Championship at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday (10).

New Zealand chose to bat first and posted 226-4 with Colin Munro and Corey Anderson hammering sixties. 

Sri Lanka were able to reach 152-7 in the allotted 20 overs with Lahiru Thirimanne top scoring for the side. 

Munro top scored for New Zealand with a 44-bal 67 inclusive of seven sixes while Anderson faced just 29 deliveries to smash 60 before retiring.

He hit four boundaries and five sixes. 

Opener Martin Guptill hit 41 off 25 deliveries seven fours and a six while Grant Elliott remained unbeaten on 36 off 21 deliveries inclusive of four boundaries and a six.

Sri Lanka used six bowlers but Dasun Shanaka emerged the most successful with figures of 2 for 48 while Suranga Lakmal claimed a scalp. 

Thirimanne hit a brisk 41 off 29 deliveries inclusive of five fours and two sixes while Chamara Kapugedara and skipper Angelo Mathews played cameo knocks. 

Kapugedara hit 38 off 27 deliveries with seven fours while Mathews chipped in 25 off 21 deliveries inclusive of three boundaries. 

Adam Milne claimed three wickets while Ish Sodhi picked two. 

Sri Lanka will play their second warm-up game against Pakistan at Kolkata on Monday (14).
