Hameed Al Hussienie (HAH) College Colombo beat St. Benedict’s College Kotahena 2-1 in the opening match of the Inter-Schools President’s Cup Invitation Football Tournament at the Racecourse ground today (7).
There battle was close in the first half as the halftime ended 1-all.
A.J. Mohammed Sajith of HAH scored in the fifth minute and Nishon Deenu scored the equaliser for the Bens five minutes later.
The winning goal was netted in by Fasal Ahmed in the 42nd minute to give HAH victory.
Mohammed Amans of HAH was selected as the best player in the game.
The tournament is being conducted by the Hameed Al Hussienie College Group of 80s. Leading 20 teams from the island are taking part in the contest.
On Sunday (8) St. Peter’s College Colombo will meet Zahira College Gampola at 1.00pm while Zahira College Colombo take on Zahira College Puttalam at 3.00pm.
