Another garbage dump builds up in Colombo city

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has started dumping non degradable waste in Madampitiya. The dump site is surrounded by two schools, a restaurant and a grocery shop. The odour emitted from it has caused discomfort to those who live in the area. It has also resulted in soil and water pollution in the area and frequent complaints of mosquitos, flies and rats.. Resdients fear that it will be another Bloemendhal or a Meethotamulla.
