Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's recent conviction on corruption charges was suspended on Tuesday by the Islamabad High Court, according to his attorney Naeem Panjutha, however, it was unclear if this would result in his release from custody.
Khan was put behind bars on August 5 after being given a three-year prison sentence for illegally selling state goods while serving as prime minister from 2018 to 2022. Pakistan's Election Commission also disqualified Khan from running in elections for five years as a result of the conviction and the impending national election.
Khan has appealed the judgement following his conviction.
