I am sue you have an excellent idea of what a paradigm is all about by now , especially the paradigms of life as discussed last week in this column.
We looked at paradigms of life in detail and also the two different centres we operate in life -Friend centred and Stuff centred Having a centre is like having a pair of glasses, all the things you see will be affected by the colour of the glass you are wearing, as we all know, common sense. Let's look at a few more life centres as we try to see what will be our best life centre,
School Centred [for students and teenagers.
This is a life centre for school goers, especially teenagers. One must remember the fact that "our education is vital for our future and should be given priority", but we must be careful not to let it take over our lives. School centred teenagers often become so obsessed with getting good marks that they forget the real purpose of school is to learn. As thousands of teenagers have proved, you can do extremely well in school and still maintain a healthy balance in life.
Thank goodness our worth isn't measured by our exam results.
Work centred
Becoming work centred is a sickness that usually afflicts a lot of people work holism usually driven by a compulsive need to have more stuff, like money, cars, status, or recognition, which feeds us for a season but doesn't ever fully satisfy.
Self- centred
Another common centre is being self-centred .or thinking the world revolves around you and your problems.
This often results in being so worried about your own condition that you are oblivious to the wounded walking all around you.
Other possible centres.
The list of possible centres could go on and on.
- Sports centred
- Hobby centred
- fitness centred
- Boy friend/ girl friend centred
- Spouse centred
- Family centred
Principle Centred - THE REAL THING.
In case you are starting to wonder, there is a centre that actually works, what is it?
It's being "Principle Centred".
We are all familiar with the effects of gravity. Throw a ball up and it comes down. This is a natural law or the fundamental truth which is called the principle. Just as there are principles that rule the physical world, there are principles that rule the human world. Principles aren't religious., They aren't American or Chinese , Indian or even Sri Lankan, They aren't mine or yours.
They aren't up for discussion they apply equally to everyone, rich or poor, king or peasant, male or female. They can't be bought or sold. If you live by them you will excel. If you break them you will fail. It's as simple as that.
"Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you see the whole world"
George Bernard Shaw. |
