Top UK MBA from SLIM
Next batch starts in September

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) was founded in 1970 as the Ceylon Institute of Marketing with a view to harness the available skills in marketing for the growth and development of the profession.
It was subsequently incorporated by Act 41 of 1980 of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. In keeping with its mission "To establish marketing as the driving force which enhances business and national value" SLIM actively promotes Marketing as an essential business philosophy. The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing will be commencing their next SLIM Bucks MBA batch in September, 2009.

The MBA

The MBA is awarded by the Buckinghamshire New University and applies cutting edge and straightforward learning methods through an online learning facility developed by the university, popularly known as the Blackboard. Together with this, students also receive the unreserved support of SLIM through a panel of experienced industry professionals and academics. Besides the comprehensive subject delivery system, the programme also has an extremely flexible schedule that allows working professionals to obtain their qualification while also working full time.

Buckinghamshire New University, UK

It is a state funded university that can trace its roots back to 1893 in the town of High Wycombe, located between London and Oxford. The university has around 10,000 students and offers a portfolio of innovative and exciting Bachelor degrees, Masters and PhD programmes as well as professional qualifications such as the Diploma in Marketing (CIM) and the Diploma / MA in HRM (CIPD). Its academic structure is built around three faculties Creativity & Culture, Enterprise & Innovation and Society & Health.

The MBA programme in Sri Lanka will be conducted exclusively by SLIM. Students can complete the MBA in Sri Lanka or commence in Sri Lanka and finish it in the UK. Students will also have the opportunity of attending the convocation in the UK if they so desire.

The programme structure

The MBA comprises of three stages that is made up of three semesters of six months each. In the first semester, students are taken through four modules that encompass Management at International level.
They include; International Marketing Management, International Human Resource Management, Interna - tional Financial Management and International Logistics and Operations. All four subjects contain a modular assignment.In the second semester, the programme focuses more on strategy and comprises of Management of Organizations, Markets and Strategy and Management Science and Systems. This stage too requires students to complete an assignment per subject.

In the final stage, students will need to complete a dissertation that will reflect all they've learnt within the past period and can include a study of a related aspect within their own organization as their research topic.

Entry requirements

Students can enter the MBA through two routes; either by having a degree in any field or a professional qualification with at least two years of working experience in any capacity or at least eight years of working experience at managerial or executive level. A combination of both can also be accepted.
