‘Rockalution’ from  Whirlwind

Active Entertainment together with the popular band Whirlwind bring in a conceptualized force a series of events that will lead to a movement for a revolution in the local rock industry- ‘Rockalution’.

‘Rockalution’ will be the movement that allows for a platform to bring together and bring out local rock talent at events that will be held monthly islandwide – in celebration of the truest meaning of originality.
Aiming in the long run to showcase both international and local established bands in a bid to encourage the hidden and hitherto unfound metal talents in Sri Lanka, the very first in the series of Rockalution events will be held on Saturday, December 5 at 6.45 pm at ‘Sampath Hall ‘, Lake Side, Kandy.

The event will feature – in addition to a mind blowing performance by Whirlwind – performances by INFERNAL and FALCON CRY as well as the local folk-rock act NANO @ REDEMPTION.

Whirlwind frontman Misha explained that his band that was originally formed over ten years ago struggled on their own to make it to where they were and that extending a helping hand to similar struggling local talents was just his way of giving back to the system.

Every action has a reaction, he quipped saying that his reaction to the situation in the metal industry was going to be in the form of action.

Whirlwind, which started out as six piece metal band in 1995 steadfastly pursued a path of originality by developing their own unique style of metal music – influenced greatly by the styles of black / death / melodic and doom.

‘Pain’ – the first ever Sinhalese rock album by WHIRLWIND - talked about the experiences faced by the band in their personal lives at the time and was followed later by a continuation of the experience in their second album ‘Agony’- which was a perspective view of mankind’s ignorant behavior.

Teaming up with Gordon White the Managing Director from Active Entertainment, Rockalution is the first concept being worked on by the two entities and has brought about much anticipation and hype in the local rock industry.
