The programmes offered by IIHE are designed for specific objectives including satisfying achievement of intellectual standards, gaining skills required by modern industry, ensuring employability, and most importantly developing the students' ability to learn on a continuous basis.
All programmes at IIHE are validated by the University of Wales, UK as conforming to the quality standards required by the University of Wales and the UK higher education system. This validation is not only concerned with the structure of the programme but includes the delivery and management of the programme from enrolement of students, recruitment of lecturers and availability of resources.
University of Wales ensures on the basis of continuous monitoring and periodic reviews that programme are relevant and are at or above the standards set by QAA of UK. Each of the programmes are overlooked by a moderator from the University of Wales and two external examiners from outside of the University of Wales to ensure that UK standards are maintained. A representative from the University of Wales validation unit monitors that all programmes conform to the validation process. IIHE satisfies the above criteria and details are given below,
1. DEGREES AND EDUCATION
British higher education is well recognized world over. In fact all commonwealth countries are influenced by the British education system. At IIHE we give prominence to providing quality education. University of Wales is considered one of the most reputed & largest Universities in UK. It is renowned for the provision of world class tertiary education.
The undergraduate degrees are designed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills required by modern industry. Teaching and learning methods together with the structure of the programme ensures that graduates are employable without training.
The University of Wales undergraduate programme at IIHE consists of a final year Real Life Problem Solving project (RLPS), where students are divided into groups & are expected to find solutions for actual problems & issues affecting HR, Finance, Distribution or Marketing of a particular company. Students of IIHE deal with large corporates such as Unilever, Fonterra, Dialog, John Keells etc. This opportunity not only provides the student a peak into corporate life, but also provides an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and abilities for employability.
Also during the final year, students are expected to compile a 15,000 to 20,000 word dissertation that is totally research based.
This dissertation enables students to integrate their knowledge and skills required to address an industrial problem and find solutions based on a scientific methodology.
The MBA at IIHE, also from the UOW, is well renowned in the local industry. On average about 40 MBA's graduate every year. Most of the graduates hold high positions in industry.
The MBA is a programme which upgrades specialist functional managers to become strategists capable of becoming corporate leaders.
2. CREDIBILITY & TRUSTWORTHINESS OF THE INSTITUTE:

3. PANEL OF LECTURES:
All lecturers at IIHE are appointed and assessed by University of Wales before they are appointed. Minimum qualification requirements are a classified first degree and Post Graduate qualification. Industry experience too is a requirement. This is a necessary criteria is to maintain the quality expectations of UOW.
4. FEES:
The fees to be paid for the completion of the degree should be very transparent. Parent/students should know what their total commitments are at enrollment. As far as possible, payments should not be subjected to the fluctuations of foreign currency rates. IIHE fee structure enables parents/ students to know their total commitment at enrollment. After enrollment the fees do not change over the completion period. Changes to fees are only applicable to new recruitments. IIHE has 3 modes of payments to facilitate the individual choice.
5. FACILITIES & STUDENT RECREATION:
The management at IIHE believes that students should be encouraged to maintain a balanced academic & recreational life. IIHE is moving into a new spacious building strategically located at Station Road Bambalapitiya (Near Railway Station). - Dr. Thilaka S. Weerakoon has an MSc in Industrial Engineering and PhD in Management from Cranfield University, UK. He has over 20 years of academic experience at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
He is a fellow of a number of prestigious professional organizations such as the Institute of Electrical Engineers (UK), Institute of Mechanical Engineers (UK), Institution of Manufacturing Engineers (UK), and is a Chartered Engineer of the Engineering Council (UK). Prior to joining Hong Kong Polytechnic University, he has been a lecturer at the University of Moratuwa and visiting lecturer at the University of Sri Jayawardenepura and Colombo. |
