It was the conclusion of yet another glittering event in the local fashion arena for this year when the grand finale of the Revlon Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2010 was held at the Hilton Ballroom last Sunday.

| Sureni Ayangika takes the Miss Photogenic title |
The stage was set when the 12 young contestants vying for the title took the ramp attired in an exclusive range of sarees creating a great first impression among the audience. When they next appeared on stage in swim wear it was time to announce the winners of the mini pageants which were held on earlier occasions.
Sureni Ayangika was declared the winner of the Miss Photogenic pageant while Ishanka Madurasinghe won the Miss Healthy Hair title. The Triumph Miss Personality award went to Onella Gunasekere while Karandza Fernando bagged the Revlon Miss Beautiful Skin title.
Setting the perfect mood for the evening was the fabulous performance by Sri Lanka’s fusion band Thriloka which held the audience spellbound. The entertainment continued when the dazzling dancers of Channa Wijewardene’s dance troupe took to the stage. Lights dimmed and the suspense built up among the contestants and the audience.
Then the final 12 came on stage, this time in evening attire to walk the ramp giving a chance for the audience to catch a second glimpse of them before the names of the top five finalists were announced. From the final 12, it was Peuma Ranaweera, Onella Gunasekere, Ishara Abeywickrama, Marietta De Fontaine and Ishanka Madurasinghe who made it to the top five. And come question time, the five contestants faced the judges with confidence.
Making a grand entrance on stage next was the former Miss Sri Lanka Aruni Rajapaksa clad in an elegant pink dress studded with sequins taking the viewers’ memories back in time to last year’s pageant for a brief moment. Her presence indicated a great moment to come…She was on stage to crown the winner….
Finally it was Ishanka Madurasinghe who walked away with the prestigious Miss Sri Lanka title bringing the gala evening to a conclusion.
The winner, in addition to the prestigious crown, won a return air ticket to Las Vegas and a three - week all expenses paid stay to represent Sri Lanka at the Miss Universe 2010 pageant among many other exclusive gifts.
