“Pembara Lakmatha” a patriotic song paying tribute to the gallant war heroes, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the liberation of the motherland from over three decades of terrorism, was gifted to the nation at a launching ceremony held at the Department of Government Information recently.
The special feature of this song is that its lyrics have been penned by Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara MP who at one time rendered a vital national service as Director General of the Civil Defence Force following his retirement from active service in the Sri Lanka Navy.
The lyrics have been written in a manner that fittingly portrays the dignity and pride of Sri Lankans and the wonderful nature of mother Lanka. The music is composed by young and talented musician Visharada Nimal Dissanayake who is presently a music consultant to the National Youth Brigade, an affiliate of the National Youth Services Council.
The song is sung by two new generation vocalists Asanga De Alwis and Buddhika Kuruppuarachchi whose mellifluous voices add a new dimension to it and Visharada Nimal Dissanayake himself.
Since a music video of this song has been issued to Television Channels, viewers can enjoy this song from their drawing rooms over TV. This CD and video will undoubtedly enhance the dignity and pride of our heroic forces.
The conserved scenes made available by the Department of Government Information for the composition of the visual has helped to add more colour and value to it.
The music video is directed by youthful TV Director Manjula Yatawathura and editing is by Dushyantha Madusanka and Gayantha David.
The video depicts scenes of the heroic battles, archaeological sites and environmental scenes depicting our heritage and updates of the massive on going development projects which followed the military victory through which the creator of the song successfully addresses the hearts of the listeners.
