AUSTSWIM is Australia's national organisation for the teaching of swimming and water safety™. It has developed a quality aquatic education programme for those wishing to enter the aquatic industry as a teacher of swimming and water safety™.
AUSTSWIM has a philosophy that people should have appropriate swimming and water safety skills and understand the principles and practices of water safety.
AUSTSWIM has commenced working with the relevant organisation in Sri Lanka to raise awareness of the importance of all children having access to swimming and water safety education. Water is everywhere and it's not always clear, clean and heated. AUSTSWIM strongly believes all children should learn swimming and acquire water safety knowledge and personal survival skills for all aquatic environments.
AUSTSWIM CEO Gordon Mallett urges Sri Lankan parents to ensure that children are constantly supervised in and around the water and that they receive regular lessons on swimming and water safety aquatic education by appropriately trained swimming and water safety teachers. Providing your child with the opportunity to learn to swim and water safety skills will give them the best chance of survival if an accident were ever to happen.
'WATER SAFETY' TIP 1
Water safety begins with you. Be within arm's reach when your family is in, on or around water.
'WATER SAFETY' TIP 2
Regardless of swimming ability no person is drown proof. Ensure that there is adequate supervision AT ALL TIMES when your family is in or around water.
'WATER SAFETY' TIP 3
Young children are fascinated by and attracted to water. Recognise or eliminate potential water dangers around your home; nappy buckets, fish ponds, bathtubs, toilets, wading or swimming pools.
'WATER SAFETY' TIP 4
Water's everywhere and it's not always clear, clean and heated. Learn water safety knowledge and personal survival skills for the beach, river, lake and even your pool at home.
