A room full of books

The scene shifts to the Khettarama Stadium. A room at this stadium is stacked with books worth at least eight lakhs of rupees. These books had been purchased to be distributed among cricket lovers but some how or the other the books are lying idle and gathering dust at this room. What a waste of funds and what about the efforts gone in to write this book by the author?

The mystery choice
There is a mystery over the selection of the event director for the T-20 World Championships which is scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka next year. It says the advertisement that was published mentioned that having played cricket was a distinct advantage besides the other qualifications.

There were applications from several corporate and other top notches and some of them having played even Test cricket.

Ironically the present lot at the Citadel who is now doing the crab walk have opted to selected a person without a practical cricket background, while not even bothering to have a chat with the former cricketers before making their final assessment -- Bad show mister U.

The fat man sings
The fat man who was doing the three letter job at the Citadel was sent home on age. Then he was brought back by the rival faction at the Citadel in its dying days to do the job of the selector. Now that it is reported that the days of the assignment is also coming closer, the fat man is looking for the job as the team manager. Hope for the survivor.

In hot water
A top official of a leading sport is in hot water for having used the sport’s official logo in a private web-site without the permission of the people in charge. They say that the man is in charge of keeping the runs in check in a leading sport.

Breaking away
A leading sport’s key officials’ body seems to be breaking off into small, small pieces. It started off with the parent body breaking into two. Now the other sections are on the verge of breaking into little, little bits. In no time there will be no body and then what will happen to the sport that is involved?

Missing in action
There is a cricket ground in Maggona named after a famous cricket ground in England. This ground is said to be managed by a former Sports Big Shot’s brother-in-law. However when a recent match was to be played there the teams found the man in charge of the ground missing. Frantic efforts were made to find the man bit it was of no use. It is said that this chap draws a fat salary. For what purpose? When he is needed, he is missing!

More than he can chew
There seems to be a dearth of people at the top for certain jobs. Here is the tale of a top cricket umpire who has taken on more than he can chew. Now this man is seeking to manage an under 19 cricket team scheduled to tour abroad. In fact he is up to his neck in managing matters. One wonders how he can cope up with all these responsibilities.

Half done
A lot of criticism has been levelled at the Galle Cricket Grounds where Sri Lanka lost the first Test to Australia. The talk is that the person who had been entrusted to get the Galle pitch had been so busy with other cricket matters that he had no time to give his hundred percent to get the pitch in order. The saying goes that the pitch was half done and that is why Sri Lanka lost the game.
