Navy had Army in tatters when play ended on day two in the final of the Under 23 Division Two cricket tournament game at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

Navy resuming from their overnight score of 174 for 9 went on to make 231 thanks to a fine 78 from Malith Cooray inclusive of six boundaries.

Malith was also involved in two fruitful stands, first for the ninth wicket which was of 64 runs with Lakmal Keerthiratne and the other of 58 runs for the last wicket with skipper Dulanjala Mendis.

Army in their turn struggled with the bowling of Dulanjala Mendis and Yoshan Kumara who shared five wickets to end the day on 49 for 6. Army have a daunting task of making another 182 runs with only four wickets in hand to prevent Navy from clinching the title when play resumes on the final day today.
Navy (174/9 overnight) 231 (Malith Cooray 78, Dilan Chandima 30, Lakmal Keerthiratne 28; Anushka Samaratunga 4 for 56, Tharindu Dharshana 3 for 49)

Army 49 for 6 (Roshan Jayatissa 18 n.o; Dulanjala Mendis 3 for 21, Yoshan Kumara 2 for 11)
