Member of Parliament R. Dumindha Silva was named President of the Sri Lanka Bodybuilding Federation, when an election of officials to the sports body for 2011-2012 was held yesterday.
The election was conducted by the Ministry of Sports.After months of hanging in limbo, with uncertainties about what exactly was happening officially in the local bodybuilding scene, and who exactly was calling the shots, the sports body has finally consolidated itself.
Others elected yesterday were K. H. Kapila Kumara, as Secretary; Wing Commander S. N. Fernandopulle, G. M. Priyantha Kumara, and E. W. Farid as Vice-Presidents; T. K. Kasun Chathuranga, as Assistant Secretary; K. K. Ranil Chandana Perera as Treasurer, and H. U. Indika Fernando, as Assistant Treasurer. The Sri Lanka Bodybuilding Federation comes under the Ministry of Sports.- RSP |
