This came after a depositor filed a petition urging the Chief Justice to consider the hearing of the case by a 5-member Supreme Court bench. Earlier former GK directors and a special committee had been entrusted with the task of implementing the new repayment plan agreed by depositors and former directors and this plan was endorsed by a 3-judge bench headed by Justice Shirani Tilakawardena. Under this plan it was proposed to complete the payment of capital of the depositors within four years.
Worried members of Golden Key Depositors Society met opposite the GK headquarters in Colombo on Thursday and signed a petition urging the judiciary to continue the hearing of their case by the present bench headed by Justice Tilakawardena. |
