Sri Lanka Association for Advancement of Science (SLAAS) – Section F is conducting a capacity development programme for young researchers in Sri Lanka aiming at qualitative data collection and analysis.
It will be conducted by Prof. K. Karunathilake from the University of Kelaniya with support from Isuru Samarathunga who recently secured a Masters Degree from the Cambridge University (UK). Prof. Karunathilake has wide experience in research and capacity development in Sri Lanka and several other countries.
The programme will consist of three half-day sessions on October 13-15 at the SLAAS in Colombo. The current practice in social science and management research is the appropriate use of both quantitative and qualitative research tools aiming a realistic outcome from the research conducted. However, awareness on qualitative data collection and analysis among practicing researchers is weak. Therefore, it is very important to provide opportunities for young researchers to acquire knowledge and practice in qualitative research, data collection and analysis, the organizers said.
Researcher from universities, higher educational institutions, research and consultancy firms representing industry and construction sectors, and or individual researchers are welcome to apply for participation. |
