ODEL supports four causes with ‘Charity Weekends’ in October

The welfare of children and elders, conservation of wild animals and shelter -- four causes which are internationally commemorated in the month of October - have become the focus of a month-long community initiative by Sri Lanka’s top fashion and lifestyle brand, ODEL.

The company has decided to support the four causes by contributing a portion of funds from the sale of ODEL products at the brand’s flagship store at Alexandra Place in the first four weekends of the month and to provide space at the store for charities and organisations which are dedicated to these causes, to raise funds by selling their own merchandise.

To mark World Animal Day on October 4 ODEL allocated Rs 5 out of every Rs 100 spent on Embark and Souvenir products by shoppers over the weekend of 1st and 2nd October. These funds will be channelled to the Wildlife Conservation Society of Galle to protect the endangered Purple-faced Langur. On the weekend of October 8-9 ODEL will make a similar contribution to the Chitra Lane School for the Special Child by donating Rs 5 for every Rs 100 spent at the Kids department at its flagship store.

In addition, as part of its support to World Children’s Day celebrated on October 1, ODEL will provide space at the store for merchandise to be sold by the ‘Preethipura’ charity. As part of its commitment to the elderly and to mark the International Day for Older Persons on October 1, ODEL will contribute Rs 5 out of every Rs 100 spent on October 15-16 to HelpAge Sri Lanka.

Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka will be the recipient of Rs 5 from every Rs 100 spent at ODEL’s flagship store on the October 22-23 weekend.
