Are you just after A/Levels? Do you know your career path? You need Advice?
Then visit the Career Fair and Seminar to be held At Holy Cross College Kalutara on 21st October 2011.
One of the biggest challenges a young student and for that matter the parents too face, is choosing a suitable career and a course of study which will fit the talents and the desires of the young persons. It is difficult and complicated as there are hundreds of Institutions offering Degrees, Diplomas and other Certificates. It is also due to the fact that even many teachers and parents do not really know what to recommend. Many students end up disappointed with some of the courses they undertake at the expense of valuable time and money. At the end of it just land in a job for want of an income and an occupation.
Holy Cross College, Kalutara Old Boys' Union Colombo Branch, having recognized the great need, have organized a very informative and exciting programme for all GCE O/L, A/L and A/L completed students, their parents and teachers to provide guidance and opportunity to identify possible avenues of studies which can lead to a specific goals within a time frame.
The organizers have taken great care to obtain necessary approvals from the Education department and with the encouragement received from the Rector of Holy Cross College ,are going ahead to bring out the best for the students.
Several Educational Institutes such as CIMA, SLIM, Edexel, BCS and City & Guilds are just a few who have confirmed their participation so far, and many more would be joining to make a real contribution to the student population in the Kalutara District. It is very timely and fitting that the Colombo branch of the Holy Cross College OBU has decided to organize this event, as this will be the first occasion that Kalutara District will have such valuable Education fair , the likes of which are usually confined to the Colombo District. All schools in the Kalutara Education Region have been invited to attend and this will provide a golden opportunity to the students, teachers and parents to get themselves updated for the benefit of the younger generation.
Another key feature will be that several leading Companies will be participating with the intention of disseminating information about their process of recruitment, what they look for when recruiting persons and how the recruits can look forward to their career development. This will certainly help the students to gear themselves for the future.
The Career Fair opens a splendid opportunity to the teachers to update themselves with the current market requirements and be in a position to mould and guide the students on day to day basis to prepare them for the future. From the students point of view the career fair will provide opportunity to interact directly with people who provide tutorial support to prepare for various examinations both in Sri Lanka and abroad. The choice available today is much wider than ever before.
To get a foreign qualification one does not have to go abroad, which was not heard of a few years ago. From the parent's point of view, this will open their mindset in terms of making the right investment for their children's future. Whether to send them abroad or spend much less and get the whole family educated. A parent who is keen on giving their children a foreign experience may also choose from the foreign Institutes that offer the facility. For the teachers the career fair will give a broad view of not only the education market which is a rapidly growing market but also give the employers a perspective of what education needs to provide to produce marketable candidates who can be gainfully and productively employed.
Schools in the Kalutara region have been invited to send in students in the GCE classes to the Career Guidance Seminar which is on from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm at the Holy Cross College Auditorium.
The career fair is open from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm at the Holy Cross College premises and is open to the general public.
