Chemistry exhibition at Adamantane House from November 24-26

The College of Chemical Sciences will be holding a Chemistry Exhibition titled CHEMEX 2 and Open Days at the Institute of Chemistry Headquarters at Adamantane House , 341/22. Kotte Road, Welikada, Rajagitiya (near the Rajagiriya Post Office) from November 24 th (thursday) to 26 th (saturday).

This will enable the public and especially school children to view the various exhibits and appreciate the marvels and wonders of Chemistry which is essential for daily life and economnic development. Exhibits and demonstrations will include the areas of Health & Complementary Therapy, Toxicology, Industry, Food & Nutrition, Environment, Pharmaceuticals etc.Chemistry Magic Shows, Debating Contests and Training seminars for Advanced level students are also part of the Open Day programme.

Professor J N Oleap Fernando, the Honorary Rector of the College states in a media release that this event , which is being organized as part of the UN declaration of this year as the International Year of Chemistry , will be inaugurated at 10 am on November 24 th by Mr Errol Fernando, who has over 50 years of chemistry teaching experience including a period of over three decades at St Patrick's High School in Karachchi , Pakistan. Prizes will also be distributed on that occasion to Advanced level students who had excelled in the National Titration Competition that is being organized from November 16 th for the first time in Sri Lanka .

Information can also be obtained by students on this occasion regards the very successful, low cost and highly popular Graduateship and Laboratory Technology Programmes conducted by the College over the past 40 years which has made it to produce over 40% of Sri Lanka's Graduate Chemists and be the only producer of middle level chemistry technicians in Sri Lanka.
