‘Speed reading’ for CIMA Members

Whether you are reading reports, long emails from colleagues, just reading the daily newspaper or a journal, chances are at one time or another you’ve wished you could read a little faster. So the desire is to learn speed reading.

Speed reading can help you to read and understand written information much more quickly. In the fast-moving professional environment, mastering information quickly is an essential skill. Keeping up-to-date with knowledge in your field also calls for special skills and speed reading is one of them. Enhance your reading speed by mastering certain scientific and time-tested principles.

Objectives of this three day workshop is to help participants understand the mechanics of speed reading; make participants aware of bad and good reading habits; give participants a tool kit of strategies and techniques to help them start the journey of building speed-reading skills.

By attending the workshop you will gain practical techniques to improve comprehension and retention; process your paper work faster; read reports, emails, documents faster and have more productive time for other work; be prepared for meetings having read, understood and synthesized all material; read and remember two to three books in the time others can only read one; do well in exams by being able to cover all material and ensure higher retention; expand your personal horizons by being well read and up to date on a variety of topics; become a leader by reading more.

Resource person Sanjeev Jayaratnam is the Chief Executive Officer of Revelations Professional Education; Founder / Partner, Revelations Academy of Performing Arts and Creativity and Leader, Revelations male voice choir.

The workshop will consist of three, three hour sessions on 2, 9 and 16 December 2011 from 7.30 to 10.30 am at the CIMA Sri Lanka Division.
