Aspirations Education (AE), the pioneer career guidance and student placement service center in Sri Lanka announced that the unit is able to channel local student applications to any British university, being a registered centre of the UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admission System), the British admission service for students applying to universities and colleges.
By channelling their applications via Aspirations Educations students are able to select up to 5 courses and/or universities to apply. Application deadline for this programme is 30th June every year. For the year 2011 applications, it costs £11 to apply for one course or £22 per student to apply to two or more courses.
In the meantime, those applying for medicine, dentistry and veterinary science courses can only select up to four preferences (although the other choice can be used to apply for different courses). The deadline for these courses is 15 October 2011, for the September 2012 intake. More than half a million people who wish to study at a university or college in the UK use UCAS services each year. UCAS provides an online application portal and application processing system where students can apply up to five UK universities of their choice where they wish to pursue their undergraduate studies.
Aspirations Education is a UCAS registered career guidance center and will guide Sri Lankan students to choose a proper undergraduate course at a reputed UK university of their choice, and to submit their application through UCAS. Aspirations Education helps students to secure a placement and will assist students throughout the application process including Visa counseling.
“Aspirations Education is registered with the UCAS customer database and therefore are able to process applications to almost every British university and Aspirations Education will assist these students with the initial UCAS applications, selecting university choices, guidance on writing personal statements, guidance with obtaining reference letters, arranging UCAS clearing placements and obtaining UCAS guidebooks on course selection,” said Ms. Deepamala Abeysekera General Manager Aspirations Education.
Aspirations Education has channeled students to many British universities including University of Sheffield, Queen Mary University of London, University of Liverpool, Brunel University, Coventry University, Nottingham Trent University and many more.
Mr. Hasitha Fernando, Senior Student Counselor from Aspirations Education took part in the ‘International Agents Knowledge Workshop’ training programme conducted by UCAS in Cheltenham, England which enhances the Aspirations Educations capability in assisting students who want to apply through UCAS.
October 15th, in the year before the student wishes to start university education, is the deadline for the University of Oxford and University of Cambridge. Which are comparatively earlier deadlines. An additional restriction on applications to Oxbridge is that it is not possible to apply to both the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge in the same admissions cycle, unless the student has already obtained a degree or will complete a degree before starting a course at either university.
Once the applicant has received responses from all the institutions applied to, they must respond by accepting up to two choices, one Firm Acceptance and one Insurance Acceptance, whereas the remnants are declined. There are only 4 possible offer combinations: UF (Unconditional Firm, no Insurance offer), CF (Conditional Firm, no Insurance offer), CF + UI (Conditional Firm + Unconditional Insurance), CF + CI (Conditional Firm + Conditional Insurance)
Final placements are generally during the month of August, post A-level and Higher examinations results. If candidates miss the conditions on both the Firm and Insurance offers and there were no sufficient places for admissions on either course, UCAS Clearing allows candidates to apply for any course that has places at that time. UCAS Clearing is the exception to the rule of application through UCAS, which comes at the very end of the admissions season, when courses are about to begin. From July until late September, the Clearing process helps applicants without placements to find institutions with courses that still have placements available.
In addition to the application services, Aspirations offers comprehensive career visa guidance to the students. All these services are offered absolutely free of charge.
Through channelling applications for any university in UK of their choice with the assistance of Aspirations Education, aspirant students can stand a high chance in entrance pathway which is hassle free and secure. Students who missed the 2011 intake can apply for the 2012 intake; also students seeking entry to Medicine and Dentistry in 2012 must apply before October 15th 2011.
