The Cleft Lip and Palette group (charity organization) at The Overseas School of Colombo(OSC) is hosting a “Battle of the Bands competition” in order to raise funds for upcoming operations for infants suffering with a cleft palette. The Battle of the Bands will take place on the 26th of November at the OSC auditorium starting at 7pm.
Orofacial clefts are birth defects in which there is an opening in the lip and/or palate (roof of the mouth) that is caused by incomplete development during early fetal formation. Cleft lip and cleft palate occur in about 1 or 2 of every 1,000 babies born in the Sri Lanka each year, making it one of the most common major birth defects. The good news is that both cleft lip and cleft palate are treatable. Most kids born with these can have surgery to repair these defects within the first 12-18 months of life.
By attending this concert, you will be supporting many surgeries to take place and this would be a life changing event for many kids born with this defect. Please come and support the Cleft Lip and Palette group of The Overseas School of Colombo in raising funds. There will be performances from various teen bands including: Still Thinking, Killfeed, TY2D, Blood Brothers, and guest performances by Tantrum and Hollow.
