Durham University, recently named as the third best UK University in the prestigious Sunday Times University Guide 2012 and a World Top 100 University, has signed a new agreement with education agent VIEC in Sri Lanka. Durham recently cemented its place as a World Top 100 University in the 2011 QS World University League Rankings, which also placed the University in the World Top 15 for graduate employability.

David Thornber, Regional Manager (South and Central Asia), in Durham University’s International Office, said: “We had no hesitation employing the services of VIEC (Sri Lanka) to promote Durham University. We are familiar with the VIEC Country Director, Sri Kandasamy. He is overwhelmingly qualified to promote the University and support students with their application and visa”.
The VIEC Country Director’s previous roles included the Education Services Managers’ post at the British Council in Sri Lanka (& Maldives), where he developed an excellent understanding of the local education market. He was commended by many UK University representatives for the quality and impact he created promoting UK qualifications in Sri Lanka. His performance at the British Council was rated as exceptional for his outstanding work which included overseeing the UK-Sri Lanka Partnership Links Scheme to facilitate redevelopment and capacity building in Sri Lankan institutions.
Sri Kandasamy said: “Durham has achieved its highest-ever ranking in the Sunday Times University Guide this year off the back of high levels of student satisfaction, the low dropout rate, highly sought after graduates and a strong research-led academic track record. Durham is a world leading University and VIEC is thrilled to be selected by Durham”.
