The resolution moved by Tirantha Walaliyadde PC, a candidate for the forthcoming BASL Presidential elections and seconded by Nimal Weerakkody did not name any person but said that the Bar Council was not condoning the conduct referred to in the allegations made in the contemplated inquiry but its interest was "solely in the interests of the Rule of Law and for the purpose of safeguarding the independence, impartiality and the integrity of the judiciary".
