The Graduate Institute of Science and Management (GISM Campus) held her First Award Presentation and Passing out ceremony of the first intake of students of the faculties of Business Studies and Information Science having successfully completed their first year studies under New Zealand’s premier University, Massey Degree Pathway Programme.
New Zealand, the land of Kiwi’s and the Maori was ranked, the safest country in the world in 2010 by the Global Peace Index and in the same year its education system was ranked number 1 by the Legatum Prosperity Index. This Massey university of New Zealand is GISM’s sole Corporate Partner as Higher Education Provider in Sri Lanka.
This ceremony held on the 17th January 2012 in Hotel Renuka was a unique one where the Passing-out Students, their parents, faculties of GISM, visiting professors and lecturers, the four Massey university professors and the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Invited Guests and members of the Board of Management of GISM were presented.
During the First Year of GISM’s existence as a Seat of Higher Education and Education Provider in Sri Lanka, this august assembly was indeed a Microcosm of Scholarship and Fellowship in which 15 Professors (05 Professors from Massey University itself and 10 other Professors in all, from GISM Faculty and the Visiting Faculty.
Another unique and surprise, in giving away Prizes and Awards were for the following causes as feats and achievements of both the faculty and the students.
Student Marlan Chandula Senanayake earned the Best Academic Achievement Award including English Language for the year 2011, while student Baba Mohamed Imran Lye earned the prize as the Best All-rounder including Inter-disciplinary activities.
Plaudits to Prof. Kennedy Gunawardhane were extended as GISM’s Best Visiting Professor and Dr. J.P. Kumarasinghe earned plaudits as the Best Visiting Senior Lecturer while Mr. Mohamed Azlam earned plaudits as the Best Visiting Lecturer.
Miss. W.P. Bhashini earned the award as GISM’s Best Co-coordinator and Lecturer of Massey Degree Pathway Programme.
