Sri Rahula Maha Vidyalaya is an illustrious school in the Badulla district. It is situated in Mailagastenna. Their primary aim is to provide education to students who come from the surrounding villages.
At first It was established as a primary village school as Sri Gnanodaya Buddhist Vidyalaya at the premises of Sri Gnanodhaya Buddhist Centre in 1951. Initially the school had 33 students and two teachers. The first principal was Mr.L.P. Mahindarathna. In 1962 the school was shifted to the present premises. In 1963 the school was named Badulla Mailagasthanna Vidyalaya.
