BreadTalk, Colombo’s first boutique bakery opened on April 5, just before the Avurudu break and is already enjoying a booming business. Owned by FoodBuzz Private Limited, the outlet is the 15th market expansion for BreadTalk, which has over 400 outlets worldwide. This is also the largest BreadTalk outlet to date.
"Today is undoubtedly a landmark day when referring to the Sri Lankan boutique bakery industry and quick service restaurants. This is the first time that an international franchise of this nature which focuses on lifestyle boutique bakery has entered the Sri Lankan market to service our people with high quality, modern and creative bread, toast, buns and cake," said Yatila Wijemanne, Managing Director of BreadTalk, Sri Lanka.
Focused on constant innovation, BreadTalk has a signature “see through” kitchen concept. Their displays are not stacked with food which means all products would be fresh and meet hygiene requirements. Over a hundred items including savouries, cakes and breads are included in their range.
All personnel including the kitchen staff and stewards were given a three month training in Singapore. The dine-in and takeaway outlet is at 525, Union Place, Colombo 2 (Lipton Circus) opposite the National Eye Hospital. It can seat 60 dine-in customers.
