The SAFA-CMA Management Accounting Summit on the theme "Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility" in Colombo on June 21-23 has drawn speakers from the corporate sector as well as professional groups.
Organisers, the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA-Sri Lanka), said in a media release the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) was set up in 1984 with the inclusion of professional accounting bodies of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and the Maldives as its members. This year Bhutan too will attend the meeting in Colombo.
In the first session on "Sustainability Framework- Doing Business in a Sustainable Way", the speakers come from John Keells Holdings and Indian multinational ITC, and include Robert Thomason Executive General Manager CPA Australia. The second session on "Investor demand for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)" will be addressed by business leaders from Malaysia, Naveed A. Hameed from PWC Pakistan and committee member from IFAC PAIB A.N. Raman, past President of SAFA.
Government Accounting and Sustainability Reporting" which covers areas like good governance and public accountability, sustainable performance and sustainability reporting will see experiences from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and UK being discussed.
Other speakers include Rita Sullivan, Country Director ADB, Dr Indrajith Coomaraswamy, former director Economic Affairs of the Commonwealth Secretariat and Hanif Ajari, former Vice President ICMA - Pakistan. |
