Imperial Builders, developers of the housing project in the Destiny Mall & Residency work of which began in 2016 on the relocation project, handed over Block C&D in Slave Island which consist of 4 towers of Ground+12 floors, to the families on May 29.
Present at the occasion was Chairman UDA Harshan De Silva, Director Ms. Priyani Nawaratna; DG UDA Prasath Ranaweera; Secretary Priyath Banduwickrama and Enforcement Officer Sajith Pothagama.
A statement from Imperial Builders Pvt Ltd, said that these towers will permanently house 118 families that had to be relocated in order to progress with the development of the Destiny Mall & Residency.
“The relocation project was completed to quality standards with approval from the relevant authorities every step of the way. The families were happy to obtain their keys to their individual apartments and were invited to receive them in batches; due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country. The project aim is to uplift the living standards of the former residents of the property,” the statement said.
The Destiny Mall & Residency & Destiny II developed by Imperial Builders will be completed by 2021 and 2023. The prevailing situation has pushed back the development. The Destiny consists of 210 apartments and the Destiny II has 550. They are being built on a 270 Perch property at the corner of Sir Justice Akbar Mawatha & R.A De Mel Mawatha, Colombo 02 opposite the former Elephant House. The developments are set to transform the area between the Slave Island Railway Station and R.A. De Mel Mawatha with its ultra-modern Ground +37 storey twin tower design and Destiny II Ground +50 which consists of a shopping promenade at the base common to both apartment projects.
The Destiny superstructure is fully complete along with the external paint works nearing completion. With regards to the interior of the building; block work and plaster work have been completed and simultaneously Imperial Builders is progressing with the internal paint work, tiling, ceiling, doors, windows and balconies installation parallel to the electrical and plumbing work of the building. The Destiny II superstructure in underway currently at the 7th floor level.
