Features

“Now I can rejoice that I knew you, rather than mourn because I lost you.” A line taken out of Arthur C. Clarke’ s 1986 science fiction novel “The Songs of Distant Earth” paints the tone of the Arthur C. Clarke Centennial Celebration organized by the Geek Club of Sri Lanka (GCSL) with the support of Dialog.

Taking place on December 16 at the Dialog Head Office auditorium from 12noon - 9 pm (Union Place), the GCSL will be hosting a short TED-style talk of Arthur C. Clarke’s theories and predictions on real-world problems.

Do not be intimidated by the 9 lecture- programme - the Geeks of Sri Lanka have crafted a curated curriculum with a myriad of events including but not limited to talks revolving around Arthur C Clarke allowing audiences the flexibility of picking which segments they wish to attend.

For example some of the topics discussed would be; The coming, future economy, asteroid detection and defense, underwater archaeology and amateur rocketry and education.

For all those interested in commemorating the immortalized legend - Sir Arthur C. Clarke, the event will be open to the public on December 16 at the Dialog Head Office auditorium (Union Place) Attendees will have to register online prior to the event  on either the “ACC 100” tab on lankacomiccon.lk website or through the registration link on their Facebook event page. Although attendance is free, registration is mandatory due to Dialog’s security policy for visitors. The programme will be put up on the webpage and Facebook event page.
