Sri Lanka’s largest open art fair Kala Pola 2020, once again adorned the Greenpath stretch with the captivating works of artists hailing from all over the country.
From realistic landscape drawings, to detailed portraitures; abstract painting that made one stop and stare, to magnificent sculptures made out of different sorts of materials — the 27th edition of Colombo’s most awaited art exhibition was an event not to be missed.
With over 300 artists participating, it was a melting pot of skill, craft and talent. Those who had the opportunity to revel in the creative atmosphere that is Kala Pola witnessed the use of mediums ranging from oil paints, acrylics, charcoal,metal; and even the incorporation of elements such as doorknobs, seashells and sand.
There were various art styles that were showcased at the art fair as well highlighting how art is an expression of oneself. From popart that majorly fused traditional Sri Lankan masks with elements of pop culture and drew the attention of a younger crowd to the lifelike detailed paintings of Sri Lanka’s wildlife and scenery that interested the older crowd.
