In celebration of the arts, Atelier Kandy presents “Midweek Musings' ' every Wednesday at their premises from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
‘Midweek Musings’ is a free and public event that is organized by Atelier Kandy and curated by Rukshan Widyalankara. The weekly programme has various kinds of activities, such as screenings of films, art documentaries, musicals, talks on art, poetry readings and many more. Next in line would be the screening of a movie and a stand up comedy segment by Trevor Noah (February 19 and February 26 respectively)
Atelier Kandy, the newest venture of Escondite Group was launched in July 2017. Atelier has its own gallery and cafe that portray an abundance of art and architecture of the Kandyan era. The gallery displays all forms of art, paintings, sculptures, artifacts etc. Artists are invited to display their work and all proceeds are to support underprivileged young artists of Kandy.
"Midweek Musings started with the sole purpose of providing quality entertainment for the Kandy region. It commenced in September 2019 and the audience grew day by day. Now Midweek Musings has become popular among both locals and expatriates. Through Midweek Musings we started a new event which will be held on Thursdays, titled Atelier’s ‘WIP series’, a monthly work-in-progress showing of emerging and established artists from the fields of dance, music, painting, theatre, poetry etc from the Kandy region. We invite you all to come and enjoy these events. Entrance is free,” said Atelier Kandy’s Manager, Sudesh Wedage.
