A mobile app has been launched to facilitate the process of reaching out for the state-run 1990 ambulance service at times of emergency.
The app which is compatible only on Android mobile phones at present, is expected to be introduced across Apple/iOS platforms in the near future.
Users will be initially instructed to enter the relevant contact details before calling an ambulance by marking the exact location on a map which would appear on their devices.
The app is accessible in all three languages English, Sinhala and Tamil.
