The Catholic Bishop’s Conference has urged the government to commence prosecution on criminal charges against those persons who are named in the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) in relation to Easter Sunday Attacks.
It was decided at Catholic Bishop’s Conference which convened today for an extraordinary meeting with the participation of regional Bishops to assess the present situation aftermath of Easter Sunday attacks in 2019.
Welcoming the findings of the the report, the collective also urged the government to take immediate action in the implementation of these recommendations and" as a matter of priority with regard to those individuals against whom criminal charges have been levelled,"
“We have been made to understand that 22 sensitive documents have been withheld from the attorney general and we feel that these documents should be given to him as soon as possible” the collective said in a statement issued after the meeting.
