Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku undertook an observation visit to the Oil Bank of Sri Lanka Ports Authority owned Jaya Container Terminals (JCT) Ltd. today (19).
The main business of the oil bank comes from storing fuel for ships and supplying fuel to companies that engage in fuel supply services for vessels on the high seas.
During his visit, the deputy minister pointed out that the present number of tanks and technology are insufficient to meet the prevailing demand. As such, he instructed officials to conduct a feasibility study on the proposal to construct more oil storage tanks and submit a report.
The deputy minister also visited the southern jetty, where the supplying of fuel to oil storage tanks and the oil pipeline that takes fuel to the vessels begins.
Deputy Minister Kodithuwakku also met with JCT employees during the visit.
