One person was killed and three others injured after a hit-and-run incident at Marine Drive in Wellawatte early this morning.
The incident had occurred about 5.45am and Wellawatte police were later able to arrest the driver of the car involved in the incident along with a passenger who was with him in the car when the incident occurred.
Both suspects had been on their way back from a nightclub in Colombo and were heavily intoxicated at the time of the hit-and-run incident, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated, adding that the drunk driver's neglectful and reckless driving was the cause of the accident. Further investigations are ongoing.
